Vision Improvement Symposium The first-ever Symposium on NVI in
Virginia Beach last November was a great success!
It was inspiring to see an enthusiastic response
from the public. We savored the wonderful
location of the event-- vision games at the
beach!
The Symposium opened with
tributes to Dr. William Bates, and Janet
Goodrich, who passed away in June (see note on
reverse).
Keynote presenters included:
Meir Schneider, who shared vision improvement
techniques which benefit the whole body,
including chronic health problems; Grace
Halloran, who described her journey to discover
techniques to help those with degenerative eye
diseases; Peter Mansfield, who presented a
multi-faceted approach to vision education; and
Roberto Kaplan, who explored some deeper aspects
of vision, including how clarity and vision are
connected to consciousness.
About 20 break-out sessions,
offered information and inspiration on emotions
and vision, healthy vision at the computer,
techniques from the Bates Method, nutritional
intervention for macular degeneration, techniques
for correcting presbyopia, and more. CJ taught a
workshop on learning disabilities and vision.
Presenters included speakers from Australia and
the U.K.
An exciting aspect of the
weekend for many of us was the opportunity for
vision educators to meet and form the new
Association of Vision Education (Website:
VisionEducators.org under construction).
The next Symposium will be in
March of 2001. We hope youll be able to
join us at Virginia Beach for another inspiring
event.
